how can i allow status to be changed by only a specific project role?

eg: by development team changes bug status to fixed, I need to give rights only to the QA role of project to close the bug (i.e. change status to close). similarly there are other status as well to be restricted

Hello,

Go to the workflow, which is used for this issue type (Project Settings -> Workflows), and add the User In Project Role condition to the required transition.

Hi,

You should probably use a condition for that. Jira has out of the box conditions, validators, and post functions you can set per each transition. Conditions will allow you the limit the selected transition to a selected role as you requested. It's called 'User Is In Project Role'.
