When using automated transitions, tickets that are marked closed remain the list of open issues

I have automation rules set up such that when duplicate cards exist and I transition the states of one of the cards, all duplicate cards are closed. 

When this automation is processed, the duplicate cards are transitioned correctly, however the resolved/closed cards are left in the the list of open issues with the status closed.

Make sure the automation is setting the Resolution field. If not the issues remain unresolved.
