Sub Tasks in Next Gen Service Desk

I am new to Service Desk so started with a Next Gen Service Desk - but I am unable to see where a Issue can be broken up into Sub Tasks.  Where the documentation suggests there would be a button, I see nothing (see below).

 

Is this a limitation of the Next Gen Service Desk, or have I misunderstood how Sub Task creation works?  Ideally when a issue is created, I wanted the ability to create subtasks from it if it is a complex problem or a long term project requiring various to be completed over its lifetime.

Hi @Luke T 

Subtask issue type needs to be enabled manually for Nextgen projects. See this screenshot:

Goto project settings -> Issue types -> click 'Add issue type' and select sub task' (since I have already added, it is listed already for me)

Hi Lenin. Thanks for your reply.  I do not see "Issue Types" as a option or menu item in Project Settings.  I see "Request Types" but this doesn't allow for Subtask creation.  I am using Service Desk only - are Sub Tasks only for Jira Core?

I was able to add it via: Jira Settings > Issues > Issue Types (see screenshot) but still can not make Subtasks inside a Service Ticket.

Are you sure you are looking at the right project? The screenshot you have pasted is from a 'Classic Project' settings page. In the original question, you mentioned it is a Next gen project Please clarify.

Yes I am in a Next Gen project (Service Desk) and below is what I see for Project Settings.  The screenshot above with Sub Task was me looking around trying to find another way to manually enable them (before I raised this ticket)

I took another look. I was wrong, I was looking at a JSW project.

But it looks like Next Gen is in very early preview at the moment for Service Desk Project. and it looks like Subtasks cannot be added just yet.
