How to short cut the Jira portal URL for additional project.

Abhijit Kirdat February 9, 2018

Hi ,

Currently we have one project and and building additional project for different team.

We are using basic portal for this new poject to create tickets. I want to make sure that the URL which we use for this project should not generate ticket to my earlier project. Secondly how to cut short this portal URL to share with end customer.

Please revert asap as we are going to live with 2nd project soon with portal.

Hi Abhijit,

Please take a look at How to customize customer portal URL in JIRA Service Desk Server:

This article discusses one option for configuring custom URLs for the JIRA Service Desk customer portal. This will allow you to provide a simple URL that customers can use to access the portal.

  • This solution applies to the Server version of JIRA Service Desk 3.0+
    • This solution will not work in older versions and is not available in JIRA Cloud.
  • This is a workaround for JSDSERVER-513 - Make it possible to use service desk in combination with subdomains
  • This may also help you to workaround JSDSERVER-1627 - Create ability to customize the Customer Portal URL in JIRA ServiceDesk

This article is only for accessing the portal using an alternate URL that is simpler than the default portal URL. This article does not seek to change the URLs that appear in the JIRA UI or in notifications. In those cases the Base URL and default Service Desk URLs will be used.

If this is a Cloud instance you cannot make changes.  The tickets should get to the proper place based on the Project they're going to and the issue keys.

Also you asked to revert.  What do you mean by that?

Cheers,

Branden
