Editing of a created ticket

Johan February 4, 2019

Hi guys, we host our own service desk with Jira and I want to prohibit the service desk team from being able to change the description in the original request (where you click in description and change the description of the ticket). The problem with this is that I can just stop the whole service desk group from being able to edit the tickets, but that will also stop them from changing the customer type and request type fields. I want to stop them from being able to edit the description field alone but I am struggling. Any advice?

Hi Johannes,

Description is a system field, so it won't disappear.  Simply remove the description field from your edit screen.

Hope that helps

Hi Johannes,

Field level security permissions are not available in JIRA as described here:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-1330

This other post has good tips on workarounds though:

Thanks @Carlos Garcia Navarro. I saw that post but I am not sure what he means. If they can't view the description when clicking on the ticket, they won't be able to see the request. Or am I missing something?
