How to split an Idea into smaller child ideas that each map to epics?

Hi all,

I'd like to get some advice about how to best document an Idea hierarchy in JPD. For example we have a large Idea which needs to be split into child ideas( or something) each with their own specific documentation within JPD. These child ideas should then each be mapped to an epic in Jira,  always under the umbrella of the parent idea. Each of these epics ultimately represents a unit of release.

What's the best way to achieve this?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Hi @Paul Reeves -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

What Jira license level are you using?

There is an early-release-only JPD for Premium license customers that has Idea hierarchies: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Product-Discovery-articles/A-giant-update-for-hierarchies-issue-types-opportunity-solution/ba-p/2893631

Without that feature / level, there is nothing built-in to support what you ask.  A workaround could using multiple Ideas with issue links to connect them...although filtering may be challenging as only the linked-issues count could be checked.

Kind regards,
Bill
