Bug when dragging an idea next to another in Timeline in Jira Product Discovery

I have seen this happen multiple times in Jira Product Discovery.

When I place an idea next to another in the timeline view, in specific spots of the timeline only, it won't let me add the idea there, when dragging it to the new location the idea moves or disappears automatically, and changes duration.

See the following video for a demo of this, when dragging the idea it moves automatically.

Is there a place to follow if and when this will be fixed? It looks like a pretty big bug to me, as I cannot build my timelines as I want.

Hi @Daniel de Cordoba Gil, thanks for reporting it. I am engineer on the team and would like to ask you to share couple of more details in order to help us investigate.

  1. Which timezone are you using?
  2. Is this happening only on specific column where you try to drop the card? If so, which month is that?
  3. Could you please share the configuration of the timeline (start/end/scale)?

Thanks for the info,

Kostia

Hello,

1. My timezone is GMT+2 (Barcelona).

2. It only happens in specific cells: only in a specific column and row. In the column or row above or below, left or right, there are no problems. Right now, I encountered the problem again here: Monthly view, second half of March 2026, timeframe September 2024 - December 2027. But this is not the only cell where I have found this, and before I had a shorter length (12 months).

3. Already answered in 2.

Hopefully that helps, let me know if you have more questions.

Hi @Daniel de Cordoba Gil , based on this information we were not able to reproduce the problem. The only way we can investigate is if you give us temporary access to your site via a support ticket.

If you're game, here's how to do it

Submit, and this ticket will find its way to us 🙂

Thanks, Tanguy Crusson! I just requested help from the support team from my Discovery Project, and added instructions at the end to replicate the bug in my site.

Let me know what you find!

Hello,

so we've identified the issue here, which seems to be related to how the timezone calculations are performed in some specific scenarios when dragging a card. We will be rolling out a fix for this soon.
