Unable to add attachments to Issue

Hi,

Im finding it impossible to get a straight answer about adding attachements to an issue.

It is not available in the more button within the issue itself.

Hi Aidan,

do you have the permission to add an attachment? Check the permission scheme for your project. There you find the permission "Create Attachments". 

Hi Thomas,

Permission is granted to a group the user is a particpant.

Does the individual himself need to have the permission?

yes, user can edit

I dont see Components or attachments under the reporter.

In the latest versions of Jira, the "Attach files"-function moved to the "..." - Button in the top right corner. Maybe you find it there.

Do you have a cloud based Jira or self hosted?

Did you try to drag'n'drop a file on the Jira page?

We are new users, we are on our own server,

 

drag and drops actually cause the jira session to crash.

We are not on the cloud but we are missing the button to the right of export.

 

 

we are not integreated with email either,

do you see something in the logfile, when your Jira session crashes?

Within System

 

Allow attachemnts is off

 

Is this problem? How can I enable.

There should be an Edit Settings button onthe top right of <JIRA_Base_URL>/secure/admin/ViewAttachmentSettings.jspaif you have admin permissions.

Ah, I see. You have disabled attachments globally.

To change this, you need to have administrator permissions.

Go to:

  • Administration -> System -> Attachments
  • Click on "Edit Settings and enable Attachments

Users had indiviual rights, but it was turned off in System.
