Inserting tables from Word into Jira text fields

I'm trying to copy a table from Word to insert into JIRA and it comes up as text only in JIRA (has tabs but isn't a proper table). We have JEditor plug-in.

Does anyone know whether you can copy and paste a table directly from Word to JIRA?

The JEditor documentation suggest that only IE11+ allow copy and paste of content from Word/Excel.

We have IE11 and we can copy and paste content, but tables don't come over, they're converted to text on the way.

Actually the copy and paste function works the same in Chrome as it does in IE11.
