Cannot properly test creating issues and comments from email

Hey all!

Trying to set up creating issues from email. I have mail server settings correct, I'm following the directions perfectly as far as I can tell, however when I try to test the mail handler (before clicking add) it fails. I'm not sure what is it exactly looking for. I have configured it for pop and left everything mostly default. It is not configured to ignore emails from addresses it doesn't recognize. I feel like the incoming email needs to contain some sort of "Key" to get JIRA to react and create the ticket after scanning the server, but I'm not sure what.

What do you mean by "try to test the mail handler, before clicking add, it fails"?  What point are you doing that at, and what is the error/failure message?
