How to get Parent Link Status

Hi Guys,

I can find Name of Parent Link using Parent Link function but not able to get status of Parent. In addition, i can get it in SQL+JQL but I need it in JQL only.

can you please have some suggestion on it about how to get - is there any function?

Thanks,
Keval

Hi Keval,

Sadly you cannot achieve the desired search using standard features on Jira since Parent Status is not searchable by default, you must go for a third-party app instead. Using i.e. JQL Booster Pack (on Jira Server) you can type the following:

Search issues in which their parent status is "In Progress":

issue IN subtasksOf('status = "In Progress"')

You can also query the other way arround:

Search issues in wich any of their subtaskss are "In Progress":

issue IN parentsOf('status = "In Progress"')

Using this app you can also query other issues relations, check:

Hope this helps you to create awesome queries <3

You can achieve this by using third party plugins like  JQL Search Extensions for Jira & reports

Its available for server and cloud both.

following is the query for server, it will return all parent tasks with sub task status "Done"

issue in subTaskStatus("Done")

Find all parents with status =done

issue in parentOf("Status= Done")
