What is the impact of moving Team(with sprints) from one program to another?

Hello All,

I have a Program with four teams, and I would like to move two teams from program A to Program B. I know I can do this by following few steps, but my question is 'what would be the impact on these teams which have sprints generated?'

Thank you @Peter Jessen  . I went through that post before posting this here. It was really helpful. However, I have few questions: in my case, both programs follow same PI cadence and both the sprints on these team level projects are active (sprint end date is dec7). If I just remap the project/boards will I still lose any historical data?

Hi @sachin gangam ,

If both programs are using the same PI objects (not just cadence) then if you remap the projects and boards to the new program then all of the historical data will move to the new program effectively creating ghost metrics in the past, as I explained in the post referenced above.

Moving teams during an active sprint is not recommended for a whole lot of reasons. I've always coached to move teams (hopefully a very rare event) at PI boundaries (best option) or sprint boundaries (second-best option).

Without knowing all of the specifics of your Align configuration I can't give you more specific answers than I already have.

Thanks @Peter Jessen . Do I need to regenerate the sprints in Jira Align for these teams, since I will move them to program B? or that is not needed, since sprints were generated previously in program A?
