Linking a dependency to a future cycle

We have tried to link a dependency in the current cycle to an epic(feature) in a future cycle but have not been able to accomplish this. When you create the dependency, you are only able to select epics from the current cycle, future cycles do not appear in the dropdown. Any suggestions?

I believe you would only be able to create a Dependency within the cycle/Program Increment/Planning Increment/Quarter in which the Epic/Feature is planned for.  If you want to create a Dependency in a future cycle then the Epic/Feature would need to also be moved to that cycle.
