Hey, Data Center community,

Today I wanted to not only share some exciting new features but also show how your feedback directly influences our roadmap for Data Center products. When planning our product roadmaps, we review customer requests and suggestions and take them into account as they align with our product strategy.

We’ve recently shared our primary investment areas for Data Center, centered on your most critical needs in user experience, security and compliance, performance and scale, and infrastructure and operations. Let’s dive into some user experience features built to improve productivity for end users and admins. These features are coming soon or recently made available, and influenced by users like you!

Want your voice to be heard? Some ways you can leave us feedback include our public issue tracker, customer interviews, product-led sessions, webinars, customer surveys, events, and more. We'd love to hear from you!

Dark Theme

We recently announced dark theme is coming to Data Center! Dark theme offers an alternative to the bright screens that many users, especially those with visual impairments, find difficult to focus on. The dark theme option can help everyone work more efficiently while enjoying reduced visual distractions and is an addition many of you have been requesting.

Jira Software: Show/hide empty fields in the issue view

The show/hide empty fields functionality was introduced in Jira Software’s 9.9 release. Show/hide empty fields streamlines the process of filling out empty custom fields by allowing you to show or hide custom fields in the issue view, or make them visible by default. This helps end-users save time by being able to more quickly fill out necessary fields without needing to edit them each time. For more information on this feature, including screenshots on how to configure it on both the project and instance levels, please visit the Jira Software 9.9 release notes.

Jira Software: Show/hide empty fields in the issue view

In Jira Software and Jira Service Management, we’ve introduced a create linked issue screen, available in the 9.10 and 5.10 release versions, respectively. Now, you can add linked issues to the existing ones with just one click. This feature was the top Jira Service Management request by the number of votes, and while not an entirely new feature for Jira Service Management, a highly requested improvement.

The create linked issue screen will now reflect the global create button with all custom fields of the destination project pre-filled and editable. Simply go to the more menu in an existing issue and select the create linked issue option. You no longer need to worry about managing complex workarounds with screen and field configurations to tackle this process. Learn more about this feature on the Jira Software 9.10 and Jira Service Management 5.10 release notes.

Confluence: Copy Space

Copy space is now available in Confluence 8.3 and above, without the need for a Marketplace app. This will be a huge time-saver for when you want to create a copy of a private space without comments or author names for public view, or if you want a scalable way to replicate space permissions and themes many times over. Make sure to check out the Confluence 8.3 and 8.4 release notes to learn more about the improvements we’ve rolled out, and head over to the Copy a space documentation page for a walk-through guide on how to enable this feature.

Bitbucket: Mark files unread in pull requests

You told us that for pull requests, especially large ones, keeping track of reviewed and pending files can be a challenge. In Bitbucket 8.11 you can mark files as "unread" in the pull request view so you can easily revisit the files you’ve already opened, saving you time and helping you work more efficiently. Check out the Bitbucket 8.11 release notes to read more about this feature.

Bamboo: Ephemeral agents

In Bamboo 9.3 we introduced a new type of remote agent known as an ephemeral agent. Ephemeral agents are short-lived remote agents that start on demand inside a Kubernetes cluster to carry out a single build or deployment before being shut down. You let us know that this functionality was a need for your organization, particularly because of the security and efficiency benefits associated with it. Ephemeral agents help your instance remain secure as each agent starts in a new environment and no data is shared with other teams or organizations within an enterprise. They offer performance and scalability benefits in that users can fire up as many agents as they need at the moment and kill them immediately after they finish their jobs, freeing up resources for other teams that need them.

We’re building our products to make them the best they can be, and listening to our users along the way ensures we’re delivering the right features. We hope one of these features mentioned above helps improve your team's product experiences. Visit our roadmap to see what we have planned next!

Thank you, @Claire Chisholm !   Can't tell you how happy our users will be once we've upgraded so we can utilize the "Show/hide empty fields in the issue view" feature!  🤩
