Why is search disabled in service desk knowledgebase?

When my customers click through to the Confluence knowledge base in Service Desk, the standard search bar image2016-9-13 16:42:33.png is disabled.  It ain't there.  Where is it?  How is a customer supposed to search once he has entered the knowledge base?

Hi Abel, instead of searching, relevant KB article will be suggested to customer at the request creation form:

Yes, which limits us to that lovely 600px wide view.  And if the user clicks any links within that view, the result is opened within the Confluence framework, with no search capabilities.
