Insert Link to not-yet-existing page no longer possible?

onlineadmin_vatit_com January 23, 2020

Hey guys, this is such basic Wiki functionality that I'm amazed that it's either not possible at all anymore, or hidden away somewhere ridiculous that's it's impossible to find:

How do you create a link to a page that is to be created? Normally in a Wiki, you create the link, then when you save the page and click on that link (which would be rendered in red to indicate it doesn't exist yet), it would create the new page. Confluence used to be able to do this when you typed [ and then a name that didn't yet exist. Now with the new Rich Editor in Confluence Cloud, that feature seems to be entirely gone. Typing [ just inserts a [ and nothing more. Insert Link only allows links to existing pages or URLs.

What am I missing?

Hi @onlineadmin_vatit_com

First of all, there are two seperate features you talking about.

The first is the missing feature with the "[". This is correct, that doesn't work anymore. But you can use "CTRL-K", and this will do the same as "[" did in the old editor.

The second thing is the link to an non existing page. This question was asked in another community post: See here.

Short term: This feature is in the short term backlog:

Hope this helps

Regards, Dominic
