View recent links straight from Smart Links

Hello Atlassian Community!

We just released an update that lets you view recent links straight from Smart Links. This feature offers you a comprehensive overview of how and where a piece of work is referenced.

How does it work?

To view recent links:

  1. Hover over an inline Smart Link.

  2. Select View recent links.

Why is this important?

By offering you a dedicated view for recent links, you can easily access more information about the links connected to a Smart Link:

  • Found in: shows you where else has the Smart Link been mentioned

  • Includes links to: shows you what other Smart Links have been mentioned in the page.

This not only helps in understanding the context but also in identifying potential areas for collaboration and improvement.

Having a clear understanding of how tasks and projects are interconnected is crucial to team cohesiveness and productivity. This feature aims to reduce the complexity of managing multiple projects by providing a centralized view of related links.

We believe this new feature will significantly improve how you manage and understand your work relationships. We encourage you to explore this feature and share your feedback with us.

Thank you for being a part of our community and for your continued support!

Warm regards,

The Atlassian Team

Just looking for clarification. Is this only for Smart Links to a Confluence page?

  • Found in—does this show me all the pages (in the current Space? Site?) that contain a Smart Link to the same place as the one I'm hovering over? Same page? same anchor on the same page? same URL? Does the link text need to be the same or just the URL?
  • Includes links to—other Smart Links mentioned in what page? the page I'm currently hovering over the link on? the page the link leads to?

Where does the recent part come into this?

Thank you Barbara, for the fantastic question. In its current form:
  • 'Found in' displays where the link has been mentioned in Atlassian products.
  • 'Includes link to' reveals the links mentioned on the page, specifically for the Smartlink you have hovered over.
Recent links are organised based on recency, the most recently edited or added page appears first in the list. We do have plans on improving the feature and adding some more functionality to it. It would be great to know if there was another terminology you thought of that could have made it easier for you to understand?
I'm also happy to setup a call to hear your overall feedback :)
