Hello! This is a great new feature. We have many pages owned by former employees no longer active in Confluence. Can we search for these former (now unlicensed) users? RIght now Confluence only allows searching for page owners who are active users.
I changed a page's ownership from myself (initial author) to a different person, removed watch from the page, still get every single change as "someone changed your page" despite me not being the owner anymore.
It adds another owner, doesn't remove the pre-existing one.
Within Jira JQL you can identify inactive users using a query like assignee in inactiveUsers() Then using automation set assignee to unassigned for those users who have left the business
I would like to be able to do the same in confluence CQL but none of the following work creator in inactiveUsers() creator in (inactiveUsers() ) owner in inactiveUsers() owner in (inactiveUsers() ) owner in ("Deactivated", "Former user", "Unlicensed")
This way I can use automation to reassign pages with owners who have left, to new owners
I currently have automation set up, that when a page is edited and the current page owner is shown as either Deactivated, Former user or Unlicensed, the person who edited the page becomes the new page owner.
But with thousands of users, pages, etc this is just a drop in the ocean of page owners who have left.
Equally would be great to have Confluence Automation allow smart values in the change owner field, as then this can be dynamically set via automation
@Tiffany Chung Could you elaborate on the bulk page owner feature you are working on?
Does it only include changing all pages owned by one person to another owner, or does it also include bulk actions for one user, e.g., changing ownership of all pages of a tree to one owner?
We are a marketplace partner, and knowing the direction you are going with the bulk page owner feature would be extremely important for us.
Yes but there still doesn't appear to be a way to change the page author / creator and no way to use the current page owner (vs. creator) in automations using smart values which limits its usefulness. Would love to know when this will be addressed?
@Mark J Cunningham concurred. While it does appear they have added "owner" as a CQL field that appears to replicate the "creator" field; however, both fields only support the "currentUser()" CQL function.
As the comments here have indicated, an obvious use case for this feature is to allow administrators to re-assign ownership for pages orphaned by inactive users. While they do appear to have also added page.owner.sub-property smart values for users of automation to automate some portion of this; it would still be extremely useful to have the "inactiveUsers()" function added to CQL for these fields so that space administrators can easily report on pages that need to be reassigned to a current user without automation.
@Tiffany Chung is there any plans to add an inactiveUsers() function to these CQL fields to be able to query something like
space = SPACEKEY AND owner in (inactiveUsers() )
To report on pages within a space that are currently orphaned by inactive/deleted/unlicensed users?
And, how to change the Page Owner of a Space Homepage? As it doesn't have the Title section with the editor info, and it also doesn't seem to be available through the menu.
Tied to this is the issue that in the Advanced Search mode, there is only a filter for "Edited or created by". Filtering by "current owner" is not an option. Over time, managing spaces is complicated by the fact that pages themselves display "Owned by" (current owner). This presents somewhat of a disconnect when searching for pages crediting a particular "owner" (you can't).
Is it possible to make a Group the owner of a page? This would help eliminate changes to the page ownership as people move between departments or leave the company.
@Tiffany Chung as Databases and Whiteboards are now considered content too, how to manage their ownership...? There doesn't seem to be the same kind of features to transfer the 'content' ownership, like with Pages.
Especially on Databases this is a big problem, because only the initial owner can edit / manage the content and structure.
Will these be added to the Content Manager, too? Including 'transfer ownership'?
And what about Homepages, because these are missing the header section. I can understand they're considered a different type, but still contain content and should be managent, too.
A lot of questions, but from a content management perspective these kind of almost basic features are really needed. Hopefully you can share some updates and insights, thanks!
