As of a few days ago, my team have not been able to use the Gitlab tool to import components into Compass. The integration has been working for months, with no changes made to it.
As an Admin, I can see that the Gitlab installation is in place, and I can hit the Import button like normal.
My team however are not able to import from it, the button is greyed out.
If I give them the same link that I can access, they can then import components again, but the component is in a Pending state until I approve it.
This is not ideal. We haven't seen this behaviour before, and as far as we can tell, it did not happen before this Pending button appeared on the Compass Home page over the last few days.
Have some permissions been broken at the same time? Try as I might, I cannot find anywhere to give my team the ability to import components again, any help would be great.
I also cannot find any documentation online which refers to Pending components for Compass.
Hi Mario,
Thank you for reaching out to us. We're here to help and happy to support you with this issue.
Regarding the Published / Pending component categorization, you've actually encountered a new feature in Compass. Now, when components are imported and discovered, they go into a Pending inbox. This allows you to manually approve them. This way, you can be sure that your software catalog remains accurate and up-to-date.
Regarding the Import button issue: It’s true that only Compass administrators can directly access the "Import" interface from the GitLab App Management screen.
If your team was seeing a greyed-out Import button when going through Create > Import > GitLab, our engineers recently identified and fixed this problem. A fix has been rolled out, so please try using this approach again with the updated version.
If you still encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We're always here to assist you!
@Enrique Serrano Valle, where can I get more details on this new approval feature? Sounds wonderful, especially if it also applies to things auto-synced from JSM and new git repos.
