Announcement: Admins can now review and approve components

Hey Compass Community - I'm Aidan a new Product Manager on Compass. We're really excited to improve the way teams manage components in Compass as they grow. 

Many of you import your repositories as components using Bitbucket, GitHub, and GitLab. This process makes it easy to get started with Compass since imported components will show up for all to access in catalog search.

However, this means new components may show up without being reviewed or having a team or scorecard attached to them. Now when components are imported, they first appear as “Pending” tab on the components page:

A Compass product admin needs to approve Pending components before they appear in the published catalog. This is done from each component's detail page by selecting "Publish component". 

Pending components are still editable by anyone on the team so you can work together to get them ready for publishing. 

We hope this feature helps your team build a healthy catalog that's always up-to-date.

Does this also apply to components that are auto-created by the JSM sync?

@Jeff Madison Nope, components synced from JSM to Compass will not be created with a pending state.

However, a pending component created in Compass will not sync to JSM until it is published.

Having this process also apply to components synced from JSM would be very valuable. Ditto for components automatically created for all new Git repos that don't have compass.yml files, or any other automatic component creation.
