Announcing the first-ever user-generated content challenge

Loren Siegel

Community Managers are Atlassian Team members who specifically run and moderate Atlassian communities. Feel free to say hello!
July 15, 2024

So many of us are on social media these days and while a lot of content isn’t that useful (and pretty mindless), content focused on teaching others and sharing your expertise goes a long way. From short-form videos capturing your favorite Atlassian Intelligence features to helping others get started with Jira, user-generated content (UGC for short) is a great way to share your knowledge and expand your reach as a member of the Atlassian Community.

For those new to the term user-generated content (UGC) here's a quick definition for you:

UGC is original, brand-specific content created by enthusiastic customers and published on social media or other channels. It comes in many forms, including images, videos, reviews, and testimonials.

That’s why today, I’m excited to introduce a fun new challenge to the Atlassian Community focused on user-generated content on LinkedIn!

From July to September, three new monthly challenges will be introduced. All aim to assist you in creating unique social media content, telling your personal story, and, above all else, giving you a chance to grow your community and earn a new Community Badge: Social Mover and Shaker: Becoming a Jira Admin Challenge!

For July’s UGC Challenge, we want you to share your tips for becoming a Jira Admin and how you accomplished this tremendous goal. 🏆

How to participate:

From your personal LinkedIn, share your original social media post that assists new and aspiring Jira Admins in enhancing their skills.

➡️ Your social media post (written or video) must include the following:

  • ✅ Original content created by you (no reposting of other people or company’s content)

  • ✅ Your personal story of your experience becoming a Jira Admin (it doesn't need to be long!)

  • ✅ @ mention of both the Atlassian profile and Atlassian Jira page on LinkedIn

  • ✅ The hashtag: #BecomingaJiraAdmin

  • ✅ A link to the following free on-demand learning courses:

➡️ How to earn the badge:

  • ✅ Share your post on LinkedIn from July, 17 - July 31, 2024. (posts made after July 31 will not be eligible for the badge)

  • Share a link to your post in the comment section of this article
Once the badge has been awarded for you, a Community Manager will like your comment.

Finally, each month, I'll share tips and tricks on how to create engaging UGC on social media. This month, I'm focusing on telling your personal story.

  1. Be authentic: Your journey to becoming a Jira Admin is a unique experience that you can share through a post, whether written or in video format. This post should focus on a specific example from your own experience, highlighting the steps you took to reach this goal. It aims to guide and inspire others who are also aspiring to become Jira Admins.

  2. What’s in it for them: Share your valuable insights on why someone would want to become a Jira Admin and how they might benefit from it.

  3. Engage with your community (aka followers): To conclude your post, invite your audience to share their experiences or pose questions in the comments section and keep the conversation going.

Happy creating and I'm excited to learn more about your path to becoming a Jira Admin!
