Hi guys, I am new to bitbucket. I am trying to clone a project from my bitbucket and it keeps requesting for a password. I didn't set any passwords apart from my login password. So it keeps giving me error anytime i input my login password. Is there a way to go about this.

Hi, @Mubarak Adekunle! Welcome to the community!
We announced in June that we are phasing out the use of user login passwords for REST APIs and git over HTTPS.
We recently announced the first phase of this, where any user with an Atlassian account created on or after UTC 00:00 on 13 September 2021 must use a Bitbucket Cloud generated App Password for all git operations over HTTPS and for REST API authentication. So this is the reason you are facing this issue.
Please try to create and use an App Password and let me know if you have any problems using or configuring this, we will be happy to assist you.
Kind regards,
Caroline
Hi, @Caroline R ,
I am also new here and having problem setting up similar for bitbucket. I set up the app password today (using https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/app-passwords/) , check that it is authenticated (clipboard1.jpg) but was not able to push my code (clipboard2.jpg). While troubleshooting, I have updated my sourcetree app to the latest 3.4.7 version. Why is there a mismatch in authentication results and attempting to push my code to bitbucket? Hope you can provide some clues on what to check next.
FYI, I just finish setting up a PAT for git successfully on sourcetree and able to push my code updates.
Regards,
Nas

Hi, @nbinnajib!
Sorry to hear you are facing this issue. I would like to ask if you could please create a new question for your problem.
We generally encourage users to create a new question for their issue instead of posting on someone else's question, because 1) the root cause and resolution may be different for each case 2) a question can become cluttered and difficult to follow if we try to troubleshoot multiple users' issues in it.
Kind regards,
Caroline

Hi @Caroline R ,
Firstly thank you for your time and attention to reply.
Sure, I have created my question as a new post to the wider community, link here for reference: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Bitbucket-questions/remote-Invalid-username-or-password/qaq-p/1872347

Beginning on April 4th, we will be implementing push limits. This means that your push cannot be completed if it is over 3.5 GB. If you do attempt to complete a push that is over 3.5 GB, it will fail...
