Am unable to clone our latest repositories. System is asking me to select a credential helper. The system won't recognize any selection and it won't let me out of that 'loop.' I saw this mentioned in other tickets, but did not see a workable resolution.
On another thread on a public site, someone suggested reverting to an earlier version of BitBucket. Not sure if that's a workable solution, in addition - I haven't figured out how to do this.
Has anyone else encountered this and found a reliable solution?
Hey Jennifer,
So that we may assist you with this please clarify the following for me:
- Are you referring to Bitbucket Cloud or Bitbucket Server?
- Which GIT application are you using (ie regular Terminal/CMD, Sourcetree, Mingw64 etc)?
- Which protocol are you using, HTTPS or SSH?
In addition, please post the full error output (minus the workspaceID/reposlug as this is a public forum).
Cheers!

Hi Ben.
See replies inline below.
- Are you referring to Bitbucket Cloud or Bitbucket Server? Cloud (I think)
- Which GIT application are you using (ie regular Terminal/CMD, Sourcetree, Mingw64 etc)? (Sourcetree)
- Which protocol are you using, HTTPS or SSH? (HTTPS: - I think (?))
In addition, please post the full error output (minus the workspaceID/reposlug as this is a public forum). [I didn't receive an 'error' message. I received a credential helper popup. No matter what I selected, the pop-up reappeared, and I cannot progress past it.
Cheers!

Hey Jennifer,
Thank you for sharing this information, this will help me to instruct you further.
I would suggest reading the following Community articles related to the credential manager popup loop issue:
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Sourcetree-questions/I-always-get-a-popup-credential-helper-selector-asking-me-to/qaq-p/1465880
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Sourcetree-questions/Credential-Helper-Selector-won-t-stop-popping-up-and-crashing/qaq-p/1820192
Additionally, I would also suggest reading through the following article - the reason you are being prompted is likely because of our change from basic auth to App Password for HTTPS connections. This would cause any cached credentials to no longer function and this might be why it is prompting you to enter new credentials - there is a guide specifically for Sourcetree here:
Cheers!
