Elasticsearch connection broken Edited

I'm also running into the same issue but unable to see Bitbucket Homepage/setup page.

I checked the following folder /app/var/atlassian/application-data/bitbucket/log/search and there is no File: elasticsearch.pid.

When I checked the logs all I can see is below,

2020-01-22 20:14:35,388 INFO [Caesium-1-4] c.a.b.i.s.i.jobs.StartupChecksJob Attempting provisioning in startup job
2020-01-22 20:14:35,391 INFO [Caesium-1-4] c.a.b.i.s.i.jobs.StartupChecksJob Running startup jobs for search
2020-01-22 20:14:35,393 ERROR [Caesium-1-4] c.a.b.i.s.i.IndexingSynchronizationService Unable to establish a connection to Elasticsearch during index synchronisation.
2020-01-22 20:14:35,394 WARN [Caesium-1-4] c.a.b.i.s.c.cluster.ClusterJobRunner Job execution failed. Rescheduling. Job key: com.atlassian.bitbucket.internal.search.indexing.jobs.StartupChecksJob Job id: 49aba809-3c92-43e2-a891-e4a00998fee5

Can someone help me on this issue?

Thanks,
Santhosh Singireddy.

I am having same issue.  There is nothing in the way as far a firewall or SELinux goes.  When running elasticsearch.sh by itself it complains it cannot find $JAVA_HOME.

I fixed it by changing the JAVA_HOME variable in elasticsearch.sh (/opt/atlassian/bitbucket/<version>/elasticsearch/bin/elasticsearch.sh).

Its the 3rd line in the script:

export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/<java version>/jre

Restarted bitbucket and it began rebuilding the indexes. In my case the connection was refused due to elasticsearch not starting and not listening on the 7992 etc.
