Hey Mel, you can create an automation that sends a new comment or mail when a ticket is created. To do so, you need to go to your project configuration and click automations and it would be something like this:
Other workaround to achieve this is using the client notifications if your project is JSM:
This would send a automatic email to the reporter when a new request is created.

For simple canned messages, Client Notifications is probably preferable, as it is much easier to manage.
