Automation

Hi,

I would like to do an action, say assign the issue to somebody when the Issue is moved to status "XYZ". When The issue status is changed to "XYZ" then based on the value of the "Component" field of the issue, I would like to get the respective "Component Lead" defined in the Components section.

How can I get the value of the Component field of the current issue & how do I get the corresponding value ""Component Lead" defined in the Components section for the mentioned "Component" value of the issue.

Pls help.

Hi @Adil Bulsara _ADIL_ ,

Have you tried using the assign issue action and choose automatic? I am assuming that you are leaving the issue unassigned during the create while maintaining component leads for every component? Please note that if you have more than one component listed then the issue would be assigned to the component lead associated with the first component that was added to the issue.

Hi Adil,

You can't assign an issue directly to the Component Lead using automation yet, but there is a workaround that you can find here:

If you create the custom field and then an automation rule to populate the custom field when the component is created, then you could assign the issue to the component lead by copying the value from the custom field to the assignee field.
