We have internal ID number for each employee, how can we attach these IDs to each employee in Jira?

We use ID to be able to identify employees not by user names but by unique internal ID# and we want to attached these ID# to corresponding accounts/profiles in Jira. How is this possible to do?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Jira doesn't have native functions for that, it's something you would probably want to do in your user directory rather than the application.

You'll need to find or write an app that could add fields to user accounts in Jira, but it's probably not the right place to do it.  A better solution would be to use the IDs in your user directory and use something like https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212508/user-profiles-for-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=overview to expose the data in Jira when you need it.

Hi @Mikhail Bogoslavtsev ,

as suggested by @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-, our app User profiles for Jira will indeed allow you to reach your goal. With it you can:

  • Add fields of various field types to your Jira user profiles
  • Synchronize profile fields and user pictures from configured LDAP repositories

You can check the full documentation here.

You can also try the app for free.

If you have any questions about the User profile for Jira app, you can contact Communardo through the official Support channel: Product Support

Cordially,
Lorenzo
