Unable to Delete Account

I am trying to delete my account, but am having difficulties. I went to https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile, clicked on "Account preferences", then hit "Delete account", but I get the following message:

You can't delete your account

Your account can't be deleted because:

  • This account is related to active accounts that are set to AUTO-RENEW.
  • This account is the primary billing contact for one or more products.
  • This account is a technical contact for one or more products.
  • To continue deleting this account the account owner needs to visit my.atlassian.com and designate a different user as a billing and technical contact.
  • Read our support documentation for more help and instructions: https://confluence.atlassian.com/x/pTgoPQ

I am not paying for any BitBucket or Atlassian services. I contacted Atlassian support, but they were unable to help and they simply reiterated the same instructions I followed above to delete my account and redirected me to here if it still didn't work.

Can someone please let me know how to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Hi @CelestialCreator

this is exactly what I observed lately. Creating a support request with Atlassian seems to be the only option - for Bitbucket. Regardings other products what Nic described works perfectly fine.

Bitbucket and Trello have some exceptions when it comes to configure plans/billing/cancellations.

Everything you said is still valid at the moment.

Daniel

This really is what it says it is.  You need to divest yourself of all responsibility for active systems.

To short-circuit all the digging and jumping around, go to

https://my.atlassian.com/products/index

This lists everything you are currently responsible for.   For any active accounts, expand the line, and:

  • Cancel the subscription (for Cloud systems, including free ones)
  • Turn off auto-renew (for server systems)
  • If you don't want the system to die, you will need to name who will be taking over as technical and billing contacts, and make them the primary owner.  You'll then be able to delete yourself as an owner.

Once you've removed yourself from all the active stuff, you'll be able to delete your account.  (But after you've shut down and re-assigned ownerships there, give it half an hour before trying the delete, and bear in mind it takes a bit longer to propogate a delete across everything - can be up to 24 hours before you're removed from all the mailing lists and Community here and so-on)

Do you know specifically where the options to cancel subscriptions and turn off auto-renew are?

When I click "Manage Subscriptions" on https://my.atlassian.com/products/index, it takes me to https://bitbucket.org/account/settings/ and I looked through all of the settings, but did not find anything related to subscriptions.

On https://my.atlassian.com/products/index, there's also an info box that says "You can make changes to your subscription here" and the link takes me to https://bitbucket.org/CelestialCreator/workspace/settings/plans/ which lets me select Standard or Premium plans, but no option to cancel the subscription. At the very bottom of that page, there's a button that says "View current plan details" that takes me to https://bitbucket.org/CelestialCreator/workspace/settings/plans-and-billing/ when clicking it. That looks closer, but again I looked through all of the settings and did not find an option to cancel subscriptions or turn off auto-renew.

The only other possibly related function that I could find on https://my.atlassian.com/products/index was to Archive the subscriptions, but they still appear active after archiving them.
