Hi - I'm in a free Jira project (team managed) and I want to invite one other person. When I invite that person using their email address, I get a message, "Jira admin needs to approve." But I'm not the admin and don't know how to make myself the admin.
I read various articles and can't find the answer!
This video shows the problem:
Hi @Kelly Fidei
You maybe able to invite members but a site admin must approve this member. This is due to the fact that every member you invite cost a license (money). And company don't want to spend money unless that person has been approved to work on Jira and a license has been bought. So yes, you do indeed have to find your site admin. I would recommend to raise a request on your IT, which would know who the admin is.
I’m doing this as an individual, not associated with any company. So there is no one to be the site admin. Just me. Suggestions?

Hi @Alex Koxaras _Relational_ Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I don't have what you show in the video. Here's a new video I just made comparing what I am seeing vs. what you are seeing.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi @Kelly Fidei
What you are showing me is the view of a normal user (not a site admin, nor a Jira admin). Try to see if you have logged in with a different account. Usually when you create a site you are the org/site/jira admin. But the view you had on the video shows that with the logged in account you have no admin priviledges.
So you have to have another account, or someone else was an admin and left this instance to you.

I think I must have created this account on my old email with the old domain name. I can no longer receive mail at that address. And based on your message, I’m guessing that the old email was the admin. What would you suggest?

I'm not sure how you can gain admin again on this instance. I would go ahead and create a new instance. If you have issues that you want, then export them on a csv and import them again on the new instance.
