Multiple Jira sites and licences under one Atlassian (Admin) Page possible?

Lucas Neitzel November 5, 2020

Hello,
I need to know if and how it is possible to manage multiple sites (https://site1.atlassian.net/ + https://site2.atlassian.net/ + ...) under one main atlassian admin page (https://admin.atlassian.com/)

What we need is a centrally managed atlassian admin page, where we would see multiple (jira/ confluence/ jira service desk) sites and subscriptions.
Our Business has multiple business units with multiple users, clients and customers and therefore we need multiple jira instances which can be managed via one central atlassian admin space (overview of billing, apps...)

Is this possible and if so how?
Is the billing then also distributed and billed seperately? E.g:
Jira Instance 1: 100 Users
- App 1: 100 Users
Jira Instance 2: 250 Users
- App 1 250 Users

We need to bill our clients based on the apps and user number (jira/ confluence) that they use. IF we only have one instance everyone needs to pay for everything, which is not acceptable for our clients.

Is this also possible for multiple Jira Service Desk sites/ instances?

Anyone who can help me with that?

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind Regards
Lucas

Hi @Lucas Neitzel ,

if you have several Atlassian sites, you can group them in your Organization. You can have a look at how to set this up here : https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/atlassian-organizations-964957873.html

This will provide you with a separate bill for every site (site1.atlassian.net will have its own bill, site2.atlassian.net too, and they will be under your company organization structure).

However this means that every site has its own "Manage subscription" menu, so you won't have a single page to manage these. What you can do however is go to my.atlassian.com where you'll see all your licenses and bills.

Let me know if this helps,

@Alexis Robert this helps a lot! Thank you for the quick reply.

Just to get it right:

How do i group multiple sites in my organization? What is the identifier for atlassian to know that two sites belong to the same organization?

Seperate bills means that also the user count will start with User count 1 again when adding a new (Jira/Confluence/Service Desk) subscription to my organization?

Many thanks

Lucas

Hi,

you're the one creating the additional sites. This would go like this :

  1. create your first site: site1.atlassian.net
  2. create an organization MyCompany (documentation link in my previous comment)
  3. create site2.atlassian.net under the MyCompany organization. This is done on admin.atlassian.com, you will find a menu entry "Products" and then choose "New site" if you want this product on another site.

For you billing question, yes if you create a new site with a product, it will start again at 1 user for pricing.

Great. that answers my questions.

So I guess if I have users working in multiple sites I would need a license for the same user multiple times...

OK i need to tthink about it but you helped me a lot.

Yes the user would be billed several times in this case.

Hi Lucas,

In addition to Alexis' reply, we're also currently working on building a unified user management area for all Atlassian products in an Organisation.

You can track our progress here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/ID-6733
