Changing email to a deleted account


I accidentally created a new account with the email I wanted my current account to be changed to.

Now I can't link to that email (although I already deleted the new account) and it says on the confirmation email that the account exists.

How can I proceed?

I canceled the request and issued a new one and it worked just fine
