We are trying to anonymize a user using the following REST API endpoint but getting a 404 error. Look like the service isn't available for JIRA Cloud?
https://mycompanydomain/rest/api/2/user/anonymization
Hello @Viru Hosamath,
Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!
The feature to anonymize users is not available in Cloud, only Server.
Account details are managed in id.atlassian.com/manage-profile and the user can change their information and who can see their picture and also, delete their account.
If the account is from a custom domain and the user no longer have access in order to delete the account, then it will be necessary to talk to the IT department to activate the account again to access id.atlassian.com to request the account deletion and to access the email inbox to confirm that.
If the account is managed, then the administrator can delete the account:
In case that’s not what you need, please let us know more details about why you need to anonymize the user account, so we can check if there is another option.
Kind regards,
Angélica
@Angélica Luz - Thank you for the reply.
In regards to Comments and Author name in confluence. We would like to change the name of the author (Created By field) to "Anonymous" who isn't working with us anymore.
Can we do this?

Hi @Viru Hosamath,
There are two options to change their full name.
The first one would be to reactivate the email again.
In case the email is from a custom domain where who manages the emails can reactivate the inbox, then with access to the inbox, you could go to https://id.atlassian.com/ and reset the Atlassian account password and then go again to https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/profile-and-visibility to change the full name or even, completely delete the Atlassian account (which will make their name show as “Former User” in Confluence and Jira).
The second option would be to verify the domain in order to manage the accounts. This must be done by a site and org admin of the site.
Once the domain is verified, then it will be necessary to add/invite the user again to manage the details or to delete the account.
If the user was using a personal email, like gmail, yahoo, outlook, then, there is nothing to do, only them can access the account and change the details.

Hi @Viru Hosamath did you find this endpoint in any documentation? I can't find it neither in Server/DC 8.5.12 (https://docs.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/api/REST/8.5.12/) nor Cloud docs (https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v3/intro/)

@Martin Bayer _MoroSystems_ s_r_o__ - Thank you for your reply. I got the API details from here :
https://docs.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/api/REST/8.7.0/#api/2/user/anonymization
if this version is deprecated and no longer available then how to do user anonymization in the JIRA cloud using the current REST API version?
