A) Is it mandatory to implement Atlassian access to enable SSO with an IDP?

I am  reaching out to inquire about the necessity of Atlassian Access for enabling Single Sign-On (SSO) on our Atlassian products.

 As we evaluate our requirements for implementing SSO across our Atlassian suite of products, including Jira, Confluence, JIRA SRE, Jira Product Discovery we are interested in understanding the role of Atlassian Access in this process. We already have our own AKAMAI Identity Provider (IDP) in place, and we aim to leverage it to enable seamless SSO for our users.

Could you kindly provide clarification on the following points:

·         Is it mandatory to implement Atlassian access to enable SSO with an IDP?

·         What are the other ways we can enable SSO with our IDP without implementing Atlassian Access?

Hi @Disha Patil 

As far as I know, if you want to implement SAML SSO in Atlasian's Cloud products, you need to use Atlassian Access.

The only exemption is Gsuite, which can be connected directly - see: https://support.atlassian.com/provisioning-users/docs/connect-to-g-suite/
