Looking for a way to easily track time in Jira and aggregate this data in a report? Then, it’s time to add the Planyway app. In this article, we will share 3 ways of logging time spent on Jira issues and demonstrate how you can transform it into meaningful reports.
First, let’s focus on how you can record time:
1. Log time in Jira cards
With Planyway added to the list of your Jira apps, you’ll get the time tracking field inside any Jira issue so that you can record time manually or start the timer without switching to the other app.
2. Make records in the Calendar view
This is the view that allows you to create time entries just by dragging Jira issues to the time tracking calendar. Once the issue is dragged, the time entry is created. You can adjust duration by stretching the card along the hourly scale.
3. Track time in the List view
The list view gathers all time entries across teammates and connected projects into a single list. New time entries can be created on the top line. For your convenience, you can apply the Only me filter to see just your efforts.
Once you have some time entries created, you may wish to aggregate this information into a time tracking report. Here’s how you can do it with Planyway:
1. Filter data
Open the Report tab and connect all projects you need to see in your report. Then, apply filters by projects or users to have only information you need.
2. Choose the date range
Now, choose the time period to analyze by setting the right start and end date.
3. Analyze data
After the preparation is over, you get the report for the selected time period. Here you can see total time tracked per project and per user. For more detail, simply collapse a project/user to see more.
