Community Advisory Board Annual Report 2022

The Community Advisory Board was founded in 2017 to give our Community Leaders a stronger voice on the Atlassian Community team. Here is the update covering 2020, and the 2021 report.  Once again, we wanted to share a bit about this group and take a look back at what they accomplished last year!

The CAB is made up of six Community Leaders, representing different community cohorts including Atlassian Marketplace Partners, Atlassian Solutions Partners, Atlassian Community Events, and Online Community. Starting in 2023, we are adding a seventh seat for an Emeritus Member who hasn’t served on the CAB within the past few years. CAB members serve for up to two years and emeritus members for one calendar year.  CAB badge.png

Over the course of 2022, the following folks served on the CAB:

We had 11 CAB meetings in 2022, and attendees included representatives from Community Management, Community Support, Community Experience (including our developers and designers), Social Care, and the community executive leadership team. Some notable moments:

  • The CAB provides continued feedback for ongoing iteration on guidelines and enablement for Atlassian Partners, including the creation of new groups for Solution Partners and Apps, and upcoming changes in the works.
  • The CAB discussed with Community Support how our online Community Leaders can be better prepared to support users with up-to-the-minute information from Atlassian product teams.
  • Similarly,  CAB offered insights into how Community Events can be improved by closer partnership with product teams.
  • Our lead UX Designer talked through research on community archetypes, helping us to ensure we’re building for the needs of all our users.
  • Did you know that the kudos program has a dedicated leaderboard and exclusive challenges for Atlassians? The CAB helped give suggestions about what Atlassians can do that benefits our community the most.
  • We talked about our global watch parties during Team ’22 — both what was successful and and how they can be improved on in the future

The CAB got to give input on many other community initiatives, including:

  • Greater visibility of the Community Advisory Board (if you look carefully at this very article, you can see a special badge for the profiles of past and present CAB members, coming soon)
  • The design of the right-hand side of community pages, known as the “right-hand rail” and often overlooked by our users
  • A new social toolkit resource for our Leaders
  • All things kudos, including the transition from beta to general release
  • The path to upgrading our platform in the coming months, with the help of the CAB and other key Leaders and community members.

As you can see, the Atlassian team relies on this board to help us ensure we’re meeting the needs of the community with everything we design, build, and create.

Your CAB representatives as of January and February 2022 are:

We can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in 2023!

I like that you use the same acronym as the ITIL Change Advisory Board :)
