Changing options on radio buttons and setting fields hidden using script runner

Hi, 

I am using code to change the options on some radio buttons so i can remove the none option from showing.However I use a few of these radio buttons to hide other fields further down the form.

This is the code i use to hide the set the options.

and i use this to set the other fields hidden

both work on there own, however when i turn on the the first piece the second piece no longer detects what has been selected. 

I use the same code succesfully on select lists and checkboxes so i am confused as to why it would not work with radio buttons, any help would be much appreciated
