How do I execute Plugin installation for Hosted JIRA

ashrocket March 18, 2012

I'd like to be able to use the Jira SU plugin.

https://studio.plugins.atlassian.com/wiki/display/JSU/JIRA+SU+(Switch+User)+Plugin or also located at
https://plugins.atlassian.com/plugins/com.dolby.atlassian.jira.jirasu

Is this something that as Administrator, I'm supposed to be able to do myself (vis a vis, permission wise, do I have it, to install a plugin?) or something that I ask for via a support ticket?

Hi,

Unfotunately the only plugins that are available with OnDemand are the ones that are provided by default and you cannot ask support to install plugins for you. Have a look at http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Atlassian+OnDemand+Plugin+Policy and http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Restricted+Functions+in+Atlassian+OnDemand for details of the plugin policy and general restrictions with OnDemand.

Not what you wanted to hear, but I hope that answers the question?

Andrew.

Totally does answer the question. I've always thought that the SU function should be included in Core. As Administrator, with such a complcated permssion scheme (aka Powerful Permission scheme) I've found that being able to SU as a user to test what they can see and not see is kind of crucial, is there anywhere to 'request' core features that's monitored? Like a Vote for Feature page somewhere?

Hi,

I'm not sure that there is a single place (at least not one I could find). Atlassian are looking at Remote Apps (https://remoteapps.jira.com/wiki/display/ARA/Home) for future support for plugins/add-ons for OnDemand, but I don't know how far down the line they are with that yet.

What it's probably worth doing is raising a ticket in the OnDemand project at https://support.atlassian.com for the specific plugin(s) and Atlassian can link and/or move it to similar requests.

Hope that helps?

Andrew.
