Welcome Wednesday: Team '25 In Person Attendance Advice!

Wednesday.gif

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

For everyone that will be headed to Anaheim in a couple of weeks, you are probably starting to think about everything you need to prepare to attend. If this will be your first Team event you are in for a treat! However, if you go in unprepared it can be a pit overwhelming.

In case you missed it, there was a Community Event on March 17th, with several veterans offering tips to prepare. There are also a couple of good articles in the community about why you should attend and how to navigate the expo hall floor.

I thought I would offer a few tips myself:

  • Have a plan, but make it flexible:
We already know about a number of sessions that will take place. Plan on trying to attend those that you are interested in, but also be prepared to change that based on new announcements that may be made while attending Team '25.

  • Prioritize interactions with other people:
Your biggest advantage of attending in person is your opportunity to chat with others face to face. Make the most of your time and take advantage of this.

  • Talking to vendors is not a commitment:
My first year at a Team (Summit) event, I was scared to go an talk to vendors. I have learned that they are there to learn about you and to tell you how they might be able to help you solve your challenges. Take some time to chat with them.

  • There are no stupid questions:
Everyone there is extremely friendly and happy to help or have a conversation. Don’t feel scared to ask any questions, and be sure to stop by the Community Lounge as you will be sure to get an answer or be pointed in the right direction.

  • Finally, if you happen to see me, please stop me and say hello:
I may not be the most talkative or outgoing in person, but I promise that I’m very friendly and happy to meet people!

If you have any tips for remote attendees please add them in the comments below.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Meme game is strong, but how about fixing some years old JIRAs that everyone is complaining about (with thousands of comments and upvotes)?

@dcx45 thank you for the kind words!  To be clear, I don't work for Atlassian, I'm just an admin for a customer and a big fan of the products!  This post is simply about help my fellow Atlassian Customers make the most out of their time attending the Team '25 conference.

PSA leave your personal devices at home and have a cleanly reset burner phone/laptop before entering US jurisdiction.

Purge any personal information and social media from any device you bring.

@Jimmy Seddon how many pieces of flair will you be flashing on your wardrobe? I'm going to miss you, but can't wait to see pictures and will be looking for the Community Leaders while watching the virtual event!

Here is another tip: Make sure that you calculate room in your bags for a heavier return trip than the arrival. Atlassian Partners and vendors are notorious for their swag hauls, and you won't want to be paying overweight fees on your luggage.

@Andy Gladstone I'm going to aim for more than 37 pieces ;)

The Certification team sent patches as a part of earning the various designations.  The boy scout in me says I need to sew them onto my vest :D
