If you were a tree, what would you be?🌳🌴🌲🪾

The Community’s annual Likes for Trees 🌳 campaign is back for its fifth year! 🥳

Throughout the campaign, every like helps contribute to real trees being planted around the world 🌎. It’s a simple way to celebrate the connections we make here while supporting something that lasts far beyond a single conversation. If you’re looking for all the details, please be sure to visit this post.

With trees on our minds, we thought we’d bring the conversation to the Watercooler🚰. People often say dogs end up looking like their owners.
The same idea got us wondering about trees. 🤔💭

If you were a tree, what kind would you be? 💚

Maybe you’re a towering redwood that likes a little distance from the crowd. Maybe you’re a maple that puts on a show every fall. Or maybe you’re a stubborn pine that somehow thrives no matter the weather.

📸 Find a photo of the tree that feels most like you and tell us why it made the cut. If you know a fun fact about your tree, include that too. We may learn something new while getting to know each other a little better.

We’re curious to see what kind of forest our community turns out to be.🌳🌴🪾🌲🥳

I am a large, loud, colorful person so my first thought was a Jacaranda tree! I first saw one when visiting our Atlassian HQ in Sydney and wow they are gorgeous.

I'm from L.A. originally so palm tree iwasalso a major contender but my husband loves to rant about how they are "not real trees" and they are pretty skinny, which I am not. So Jacaranda it is! 😆

@Monique vdB Some of my best memories of LA include all the Jacarda trees coloring the roads and tops of cars with their little purple flowers! 💜

@Joshua McComack I grew up in Mojave desert! Loved seeing the animals that Joshua trees housed in my backyard! (Fitting for your name! 😆)

I think I would be a tough little oak in some wildflower field, spending my time growing without a care in the world.

You could even take a quiz to find out what Rainforest tree you are or this quiz: https://www.earthday.org/what-tree-are-you-quiz/

I love these tulip trees and hope I bring the same beauty and joy (hopefully for more than the 2ish weeks I see them blooming, haha!)

Like @Evie Z_ , I would be a true surrounded by Texas bluebonnets.  I would not be a Cedar or a Juniper because they cause the dreaded Cedar Fever :)

I would be an oak tree that stands and protects in times of trouble.

I think I would be an Oak Tree. Staying close enough to the ground that I am rooted in reality, but spreading out my branches and leaves to provide anyone in my circle protection and shade. Older, wiser, more caring each year.

@Amanda Barber cool links for the quizzes!

According to EarthDay.org's quiz, I would be a pine.

Pine trees, popular, can grow in almost any climate (even extreme ones!). They are evergreen and this characteristic often symbolizes wisdom as well. Pine trees provide habitat for a wide variety of animals. Their cones are a good source of food for animals and birds. Pine trees are also used as materials in the construction and paper-products industries, making them one of the most heavily timbered trees.

According to Rainforest.org... still buffering! I will need to come back and update once it returns a result.

Loved the link for quiz @Amanda Barber

I am 70% Redwood🌲 + 30% Bamboo🎍

Redwoods are among the tallest and longest-living trees in the world. They can live for more than 2,000 years and reach heights of over 100 meters. Surprisingly, their roots aren't exceptionally deep—instead, they spread widely and interlock with neighboring trees, creating a network of shared stability.

Bamboo grows quickly, bends with strong winds, and rarely breaks. Instead of resisting change, it adapts.

In Amanda's quiz, I got the Baobab like @Anahit Sukiasyan. Before the quiz, I was thinking that I'd be a sugar maple—sappy on the inside, with ideas and information that I send out into the world like helicopter seeds.
