@mention does not work when creating cards on dashboard anymore

Since like 2-3 weeks it does not work to add other persons with @username to a card. before it was possible to add someone to a card on the trello board while creating the card. Is this a bug, or was the feature removed on purpose?

Sadly it was removed and unfortunately with very little notification.  This thread explains, it was the # for labels and @ for members that was removed.
