Did you mean:

leave a closed third party board

Obviously it's too much to ask for that when a board is closed, members are automatically removed, or given a way to leave.

I need to leave a closed board that was operated by a now defunct third party, that keeps showing up in search results. Why would anyone want results from a non-usable board?

There was a way linked to in Leave a board in Trello, but of course that is closed now.

So, how do you leave closed board you're just a member of?

However, Trudy's response got me searching for way to reopen a closed board. I found Reopen a closed board. There's no solution for my problem there. However, it does tell you how to list closed boards. So using that, here's a possible solution.

  1. Click on the Boards button from the Trello start page.
  2. From there, click on the View all closed boards button. You may need to scroll to the bottom of the page if you have a lot of boards.
  3. Find the board you want to leave. You can only reopen a board if you were an admin of it. So there'll be no reopen button if you weren't.
  4. Click the Leave button, then verify again in the popup.

Problem solved. However, do note that at least in the app, possibly in any browser as well, the effect might not be seen until you restart as there's no success message. This did work for me though.
Actually the start page is often a good place for finding out all kinds of solutions just clicking around. Even Trello staff seem to be unaware of how their own product works, which is interesting. I've found solutions they said didn't exist, by clicking around, often from the start page viewing everything in my account.

Hello @Mikael Byström

Google AI provided this response:

To leave a Trello board (even if it's closed or you're a guest), open the board, click the three dots (Menu) in the top right, find the "Leave board" option at the bottom of the menu, and confirm to remove yourself from it; if you can't leave because you're the last admin, you must first add another member as an admin before you can leave.

I am not a member of any closed boards against which I can try this.

Does this process not actually work?

Thanks for your response, @Trudy Claspill.
It does not. The board is closed. There is no menu in a closed board from a third party. That very technique the LLM "came up with" was the one I linked to in my question and there the only thing that hints at my problem is the text leading up to the link I complained is now hidden: "If you're trying to leave a board after it's been closed use this tool" (link).
