If you have a guest on one board only, they are free.

If you have a guest on more than one board, they are paid.

We don't have a "guest per user" policy.

I love Trello, but I will admit to being confused about certain things. I have a Business Class and I am unclear as to how many boards I can have that does not require me to buy an additional license to invite my same assistant to the board. Does this make sense what I am asking?

If you do not want to pay for your assistant, then you can only add the assistant to one board.

If you paid for Business Class for your workspace, and you and your assistant are members of the workspace then both of you will need to be paid for, but you can work on unlimited boards together.
