Me and my clients are hating it.  Impossible to scroll without losing the time refference and knowing where you are on the calendar view.

Not possible to add cards directly by clicking on the date.  Those 2 are bread and butter.  Someone thought it was a good idea?

Same here, I hate this new version of the calendar view, the old one was much easier to navigate between months and add details at every dates. Hopefully they'll get back to the previous version!

It is a Power Up, Calendar Poeer-Up,(industry standard if we can say that) so I dont know who is in charge, but it has been seriously affected, and It is so bad I am looking for alternatives, it is simply annoying and unusable.

@Daniel Trapanese

Ah k. I don't use the Calendar Power up as I found the one Trello supported too confusing in the first instance and never suited my needs.

It's made by trello, so one would hope it gets resolved (whatever the issue is)

In the meantime, have you looked into the Planyway Calendar integration?

  • The do a powerup that works native within Trello (I do believe, although I've never used it)
  • They also do a standalone application that works outside of trello, but hooks into it which is pretty comprehensive and tackles the task management visualisation from a 'calendar first' perspective - rather than Trello's 'kanban first' POV
    • It's also got a standalone app and all that jazz

Might be worth looking into?

Some additional guidance is available here;

TL:dr

- Planner is used as personal task planning

- Calendar is broader across teams (I'm a sole operative of Trello so don't know how all the collaborative stuff integrates)

Finally;

- the workspace views have a calendar view in them too, that gives you control over what boards you can see in the view...

I think you might be referring to the planner view?

If so, then that's not a 'new' calendar - it's intended purpose is different.

The 'old' Calendar view is still accessible at the top of the application page, to the right of your board title - (personally I'd rather it wasn't just an icon and had explicit text too) - but if you click that, then the old calendar interface, (and tables, timeline, dashboard etc) is accessible from a drop-down menu.

Ironically I rarely use this 'old' calendar view but have actually started using the 'new' planner view recently and find it quite handy for... well... planning. Once I discovered I could drop and link cards to time blocks I'd already defined in my google calendar the penny dropped as to how I can make use of it. You can move the blocks around and the linked cards stay with them.

It's not without it's issues, and I don't think it's intended use has been effectively communicated, (and I'm possibly missing a whole chunk of what it's for) but now I've got my head around what it's intended purpose (or what I think it is) - then it kind of makes sense.
