Why does the card start on the due date instead of the start date on the calendar?

Ideally the event would show from start date through the due date, but if that can't happen, I feel like it should at least start on the start date on the calendar.

Sounds like you're currently using the Calendar Power-up? Definitely agree they could display better across a range of days, particularly for events where you have a start and due date. There is a feature request to have this improved, and have added this post to it to pass on your feedback.

If it helps, we do have the board Calendar View in Trello Premium which has some additional features - including the ability for events to span across multiple days and be shown like that in the calendar view. Example:

One of the other benefits is you can drag out / extend the duration of the events from the calendar view itself! :) Similarly, the design lets a few more events display in each cell.
