I am in the process of closing my trello boards and permanantly deleting all cards, lists, and boards, before closing my account.
Does deleting a card, list, and board mean that trello/Atlassian's servers will no longer store my information?
I have read through a couple of articles:
- https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/deleting-your-trello-account/
- https://support.atlassian.com/atlassian-account/docs/delete-your-atlassian-account/
and all they mention is:
- my personal information (such as email) would be deleted
- cards/boards/lists created by me will no longer be accessible by ME
But I am curious if the data is still physically present in the cloud and accesisble by Trello/Atlassian.

Worth separating two things, because Trello's UI blurs them:
Closing a board just archives it. It stays on Trello's servers indefinitely and any board admin can reopen it later. Deleting is the separate step after closing, with its own confirmation, and that's the one that actually removes it.
Once deleted, the board is immediately unrecoverable from your side. Neither you nor Atlassian support can bring it back. But it isn't instantly wiped from their infrastructure: Atlassian's backend backups retain data for up to 90 days after deletion, then the backups holding it are destroyed. So "completely removed from Trello's servers" is true on roughly a 90-day delay, not at the moment you click delete.
If your goal is a stronger guarantee about your personal data specifically, deleting your Atlassian account or filing an erasure request through Atlassian's privacy portal triggers their formal deletion process, which covers more than the board lifecycle does.
@liangmicha once you delete the board it is gone. https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/deleting-a-board/ The caveat to this is that Trello data is backed up and is retained for 90 days. So, it is not truly gone until 90-days after you delete it and the backup is destroyed.
