What are the best practices for managing perpetual tasks in Trello?

Will Bralick February 1, 2022

I have tasks that need to be performed daily.  I have established time boxes for them and can track them as issue type Perpetual Task in Jira.

I would like them to have visibility in Trello, too, but I don't want them cluttering up the "Doing WIP."  Are all such tasks best managed in their own list on the main board or on their own board in a style similar to this article?

There seems to be little information available about managing ongoing (perpetual) tasks with agile/kanban techniques.

I wrote an article on how I track my home maintenance tasks in Trello: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Trello-articles/Using-Trello-Butler-to-track-home-maintenance-tasks/ba-p/1622658

They're perpetual, but (mostly) not daily - might still serve as inspiration for a setup that serves your needs in Trello!

@Will Bralick I use Butler to create a card each day that shows up and has a due date of 11:59 that day. And then I have another rule that moves cards to a "done" list the moment they're due. I find this to be helpful for recurring tasks without cluttering up a bunch of cards in the same list.

Also check out ideas on how Alicia manages this in her article- she has a cool way of making sure they only pop up if shes completed something: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Trello-articles/Trello-Holiday-Calendar-Day-10-How-I-control-my-monthly/ba-p/1878220
