Trello widget not updating automatically on iOS and iPadOS

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Trello for task management for quite a while, and I really like the widget system on iOS. I have Trello installed on both my iPhone and iPad, and I use a widget that displays tasks from one specific (and most important) list on one of my boards.

It used to work perfectly — whenever I added a new card from my computer, it appeared automatically in the widget on my phone and iPad. When I checked off (completed) a card, it instantly updated across all devices, including the widgets.

However, recently something broke, and the widgets no longer refresh or sync automatically.

• On my iPhone, the widget doesn’t show any cards at all.
• On my iPad, the widget does show the cards, but it doesn’t update properly. When I check off a card, it briefly shows as completed (green checkmark) and then reverts back to unchecked — even though the card is actually marked complete inside the app itself.
• The only way to get the widget to refresh is to manually open the Trello app, which forces it to update. 

I have background app refresh enabled, all permissions granted, and I’m running the latest versions of iOS/iPadOS and the Trello app. Nothing in my setup has changed recently, so I’m not sure what caused this issue.

I’ve already tried logging out and back in, deleting and reinstalling the app, and restarting all devices, but unfortunately none of that helped.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone know how to make the widgets sync automatically again without having to open the app every time?
