André Johst
May 18, 2026

Hi there, I m currently struggling with getting my trello connector on microsoft running.
It doesnt find User or Elements on my admin center.
I had multiple calls with the microsoft team but they say on their end everything is set correctly.

Does anyone have a clue or has faced similar issues?

Thank you in advance for any help

Hi @André Johst

I'm sorry you're caught in the middle of this. It can be frustrating when two systems don't want to talk to each other.

I checked in with our team, and because the Trello connector for Microsoft is actually built and maintained by Microsoft (rather than Atlassian), our internal tools don't show us what's happening inside their "Admin Center" search.

Here is the best way to move this forward:

  1. Check the Official Documentation: Microsoft maintains a specific reference guide for this connector. It covers the requirements for "Users" and "Elements" to show up correctly. You can find that here: Microsoft Connector Reference - Trello.
  2. A Tip for Microsoft Support: Since Microsoft mentioned everything is set correctly on their end, you might ask them to verify if there is a specific API endpoint they are trying to reach that is returning an error. If they can provide an error code (like a 401 or 404) or a specific broken endpoint, our team can then investigate that immediately to see if something is wrong on the Trello API side.
  3. Permissions Check: Double-check that the Trello account you used to authorize the connector has "Admin" permissions on the specific Trello Workspaces you're trying to pull "Elements" from. If the account is only a "Normal" member, the Microsoft connector sometimes fails to "see" the boards.

I know it’s a bit of a "he-said-she-said" situation right now, but getting that specific technical error from Microsoft is the key to us being able to help further!

Best,
Samuil

Hello @Samuil Enchev,

thank you for your answer. In the meantime I got the connect running bit faced a serious data problem.

I recently contacted Microsoft regarding an issue with Microsoft Copilot's integration with Trello. After reviewing the case with their specialist team, Microsoft confirmed that Trello is treated as a third-party connector and that Copilot can only access and synchronize data that Trello explicitly makes available.

According to Microsoft's response, Trello currently only allows Copilot to synchronize data from boards and workspaces that are set to "Public". If a board or workspace is set to any other visibility level, the data is not transmitted to Copilot, which prevents the integration from working properly for many business users.

I would like to kindly request that your team review this limitation and consider enabling secure access to boards and workspaces that are not public, provided that the user has the necessary permissions and has explicitly authorized the connection. Many organizations rely on private or workspace-restricted boards and cannot make their data public solely to use AI integrations such as Microsoft Copilot.

Support for private and workspace-visible boards would significantly improve the usability of Trello in professional environments and allow customers to benefit from AI-powered workflows without compromising data privacy.

Thank you for your consideration. I would appreciate any information regarding whether this functionality is currently planned or under development.

Kind regards,
Andre Johst

Hi André! Did you find any solution on this? I think I just found a bug on the "Add a comment to a card" tool on Copilot Studio. That connector doesn't have the "comment" input, so basically, I'm unavailable to write any comment on any card because there is no input for that

Hi Kevin, unfortunately I havent got any answer on this matter. Atlassian and Microsoft dont seem to care that their connectors dont work :/

I have found out that I can use it if I put all my Boards and Workspaces on public. THen again its a business tool and data safety wise no one should have his workspaces completely public...

So you use Copilot Studio for the connector? Do you also use a MCP?

@André Johst @KEVIN VARON

First and foremost, please don't make your Trello boards public, that is a massive security risk for corporate data.

The integration issues you are seeing depend entirely on which Microsoft connector is failing. For the M365 Copilot Connector (used for indexing data), sync failures are usually caused by OAuth token expiration or identity mapping mismatches where Trello emails don't match Entra ID UPNs. For the Power Platform/Copilot Studio Connector, the missing "Comment Text" field Kevin mentioned looks like a Microsoft-side UI schema bug.

Please keep your boards private. I have flagged this thread for Atlassian to verify the API health on our end, but you will likely need Microsoft to investigate why that specific action field isn't rendering in Copilot Studio.

Best,

Arkadiusz🤠

Dear Arkadiusz,

thank you for your answer. Unfortunately the Copilot Connector works only if the workspace is public, so in the end the connector is useless...

@André Johst

Can you confirm which exactly Microsoft connector you mean?

There was some of them in History.

Sure, its the Trello Connector, provided by Microsoft. Its not for Teams specifically but an overall Connecotr connecting trello to copilot
