Trello MCP authorization with Claude always fails: “Session has expired”

Hello,

I am trying to connect the official Trello MCP connector to Claude.

I am using the official Trello connector with:
https://mcp.trello.com/v1

My Trello account, workspace, and boards work normally. However, every time I try to authorize the Trello connector in Claude, the Atlassian consent page fails with:

“Something went wrong”
“The session has expired. Please try authorizing again.”

I have already tested:

- Google Chrome
- Chrome Incognito mode
- Microsoft Edge
- Signing out and signing back in to Trello and Claude
- Starting a completely new authorization process
- Explicitly allowing third-party cookies for:
[*.]trello.com
[*.]id.atlassian.com
[*.]auth.atlassian.com

The exact same authorization error still occurs.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue with the Trello MCP OAuth/consent process and advise how I can successfully authorize the official Trello connector with Claude?

Please do not modify or delete any of my Trello boards or data.

Thank you.

Hi @Aydin Isik ,

These articles maybe helpful:

https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/connect-trello-to-ai-assistants-with-trello-mcp

https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/troubleshoot-trello-mcp-connection-errors/

You can add the official Trello MCP connector directly in Claude under Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.

Use the official Trello MCP server URL:

https://mcp.trello.com/v1

Claude should then take you through the Trello/Atlassian authorization process. More information about the official Trello MCP is available here:

https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/connect-trello-to-ai-assistants-with-trello-mcp/

Alternatively, you can connect Trello to Claude through Zapier MCP. This can also be useful if you're having trouble with the direct Trello MCP authorization.

  1. Go to https://mcp.zapier.com/ and sign in to your Zapier account.
  2. Create a new MCP server and select Claude as your MCP client.
  3. Select Add tool.
  4. Search for Trello and add the Trello actions you want Claude to be able to use.
  5. Connect your Trello account when prompted.
  6. Go to the Connect section of your Zapier MCP server and follow the instructions provided there to connect it to Claude.
  7. Once connected, Claude will be able to use the Trello actions you've enabled through Zapier.

I'd recommend enabling only the Trello actions you actually need rather than giving the AI access to every available action.
