Got it! I was in the mode "search", in the cards, dont know how... Just closed it and the cards came to appear in the list again.

I had also wondered why one of my lists only showed the number of cards and not the individual cards. Just spent more than an hour searching help and trying everything. Then came here and presto! So simple and what a relief :-)
